Cryptography

Technical Overview

ARCAN’s cryptographic foundations are documented transparently, consistent with ARIEL-IA’s philosophy of digital sovereignty.

AES-256-GCM

Authenticated encryption ensuring both confidentiality and integrity. Any modification to a sealed file makes reading impossible.

PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256

Reinforced password derivation (robust KDF). Brute-force attacks become mathematically impracticable.

Zero cloud

No server, no telemetry, no data collection, no outbound communication.

Chained integrity log

Successive hashes allowing verification of any unauthorized modification.

Limited attempts

Protection against large-scale offline password attacks through the Reader’s attempt-limitation policy.

No Plan B

No backdoor, no master key, no recovery. Losing the password means permanent loss of access.
